Building a Midrange Deck in Lorcana

Midrange is the "good cards" archetype. It doesn't have aggro's explosive starts or control's late-game inevitability — instead it plays the most efficient threats at each point on the curve and adapts its role to the matchup. For many players, it's the best place to start building.

The midrange philosophy

The magic word is flexibility. Against a faster deck, you slow down, trade, and let your bigger bodies dominate. Against a slower deck, you become the aggressor and pressure their lore before they stabilize. Reading which role to play is the skill that makes midrange great. (See tempo vs card advantage.)

Efficiency over everything

A midrange card earns its slot by being statistically good for its cost: a body that quests well, trades up in challenges, or brings a useful effect. You're not looking for the flashiest cards — you're looking for the ones that are never bad to draw.

The curve: a balanced hill

Midrange uses the classic balanced curve that peaks at 2–3 cost:

CostCards
16
212
312
410
58
66
7+6

This shape gives you a play almost every turn while still reaching meaningful top-end threats.

Round it out with interaction

Even a creature-focused midrange deck wants a few removal spells and a little card draw. The removal handles the threats your bodies can't profitably trade with; the draw keeps you from running dry in grindy games.

Why midrange is forgiving

Because every card is independently strong, midrange punishes mistakes less than the more linear archetypes. A clunky draw is rarely a dead draw. That consistency — plus the ability to shift roles — is why midrange is so often a safe, powerful metagame choice. Sleeve it up and test it in the goldfish simulator.
